Andrew joined Crown Law in 2025 and leads the Insurance and Risk Branch.
Andrew practices in the areas of insurance, litigation and dispute resolution. He specialises in matters relating to insurance coverage and the conduct and defence of high-value and complex claims, with a particular focus on public liability and personal injury claims, workers’ compensation claims, professional negligence claims, claims against directors and officers, and general civil disputes.
Immediately prior to joining Crown Law, Andrew led Brisbane City Council’s inhouse litigation, risk and enforcement team and acted for a period as the Council’s Chief Legal Counsel. In addition to his in-house experience, Andrew worked in private practice for over 15 years in a number of leading national and international firms.
Andrew is client focused and personable and has a strategic and commercial approach to his work.
Andrew has almost 20 years of experience practising in insurance, litigation and dispute resolution. His experience includes:
- Leading Brisbane City Council’s litigation, risk and enforcement team in the delivery of legal services and support to the Council in respect of insurance and risk matters; personal injury and workers' compensation claims; property damage claims; recovery actions; land claims for compensation; internal and external reviews of decisions, including under the Judicial Review Act 1991; human rights and discrimination matters; contentious employment matters; and regulatory prosecutions.
- Providing legal advice and support to senior stakeholders within Brisbane City Council, including the Lord Mayor’s Office, Committee Chairs, the CEO and Divisional Managers with respect to a variety of legal matters.
- Pursuing and defending high-value and complex litigated and non-litigated claims for a variety of government, commercial and private clients in multiple State and Federal jurisdictions, including representative proceedings and matters on appeal.
- Providing advice to national and international insurers on coverage issues, including the resolution of coverage disputes, arising under a variety of policies of insurance, including public liability; product liability; professional indemnity; management liability, including directors and officers; and income protection.
