Crown Law has been advising the Queensland Government on property law since the State was proclaimed in 1859. Our property lawyers advise on, negotiate and draft major project agreements, property dealings by the government, and infrastructure agreements.

Our property law expertise includes:

Significant property transactions on which Crown Law has advised the State include the purchase of Gona Barracks at Kelvin Grove and the redevelopments of Suncorp Stadium and the Boggo Road Gaol site. Other significant property matters managed by Crown Law include:

  • the Riverway Project in Thuringowa, Townsville which created a residential, cultural, retail and recreational precinct
  • advising on tenure issues for the Cultural Centre Precinct at South Bank and proposed leasing arrangements under the South Bank Corporation Act 1989
  • advising on the ability to compulsorily acquire land under the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Act 2012
  • advising on the compulsory acquisition of land, construction, leasing and operation of the Clem 7 Tunnel
  • advising on native title issues relevant to major State projects such as Copperstrong Project, Abbot Point Coal Terminal, Gold Coast Rapid Transit Link and the Surat Basin 
  • advising on and negotiating ILUAs on behalf of the State for major State projects including the Hancock Alpha Coal rail link and Abbot Point Coal Terminal
  • providing extensive contractual and construction advice in relation to the $2.5 billion Gateway Upgrade Project 
  • advising on and drafting documentation to facilitate development adjacent to and above busway tunnels in Brisbane whilst protecting the asset
  • advising a multi-departmental working group on the transfer of the City Reach Boardwalk from the Port of Brisbane Corporation to the Brisbane City Council
  • advising on and drafting documents for the construction and lease back arrangements of proposed TAFE facilities at Coomera.
