Anita Cope appointed Assistant Crown Solicitor

Crown Law is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Anita Cope as Assistant Crown Solicitor of our Native Title and Resources Team.

Anita has specialised in native title law since joining Crown Law in 2004 and has previous experience in property law and contract law.

She now leads a specialist team who combine acting for the State in native title claims work with the provision of expert advice on native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage and resources law for Queensland government agencies.

Anita regularly provides advice and representation to the State of Queensland relation to all aspects of native title determination applications including connection requirements and extinguishment of native title. She has negotiated numerous native title consent determinations throughout Queensland.

Anita also negotiates and drafts indigenous land use agreements (ILUAs) and cultural heritage agreements and has worked on large government projects throughout Queensland. She provides specialist advice regarding ILUAs and legislation specific to native title, cultural heritage, resources law, human rights and statutory interpretation.
