Crown Law to visit regional centres in July 2024

In July 2024, senior lawyers from Crown Law will be visiting four regional centres across the State to deliver free full-day legal briefings to government officers on a range of topics relevant to your roles.

We will also be joined by representatives from the Crime and Corruption Commission, Queensland Government Insurance Fund and WorkCover Queensland.

The dates and cities we will be visiting are:

  • Cairns – Monday 15 July
  • Townsville – Tuesday 16 July
  • Mackay – Monday 22  July
  • Rockhampton – Tuesday 23 July.

The presentations will be delivered in-person only. They will not be recorded or streamed.

Program

The 2024 Roadshow will cover the following topics:

  • Path to Treaty
  • QGIF and the different cover it provides to insured agencies
  • The requirements of procedural fairness – a refresher
  • What to expect if you report corruption
  • What is required to comply with s 58 of the Human Rights Act 2019
  • The key role of the workplace in managing a successful recovery and return to work for injured workers
  • Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI): Risks and guidance.

Each presentation will include time for questions and provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss how they are currently approaching the issues raised.
