The Human Rights Act 2019 will have an impact across Queensland Government, at all levels.

With the full commencement of the Act on 1 January 2020, it is essential that public entities know how the Act operates and what their key obligations will be under the Act.

Presented by Senior Principal Lawyer, Kent Blore, our half-day Human Rights Act training workshops will provide an overview of key provisions of the Act, including the human rights protected. Using practical human rights scenarios, the workshop will cover in depth:

  • the test in section 13 for whether a limit on human rights is compatible
  • the obligation in section 48 to interpret legislation, if possible, compatibly with human rights
  • the obligation of public entities in section 58 to act and make decisions in a way that is compatible with human rights.
